MODELS 216 AND 221, WITH ENGINE 275

MODEL YEAR 2007

CHECK ENGINE CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE AND UPDATE IF NECESSARY

This Service Campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that due to a software error in the engine control module of the affected
vehicles, the coolant temperature sensor may cause the electric radiator fan to remain in operation unnecessarily. Dealers will update the engine control
module software on the affected vehicles during the next workshop visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.

Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the procedure steps exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 2,094 vehicles are affected.

Procedure

Note:

Prior to starting the procedure ensure to:

Use DAS 10/07 with all associated patches or higher.

Follow the steps exactly as described in DAS.

Connect battery charger.

Connect Star Diagnosis

Check engine control module software release:

Follow the DAS path: Control units/Drive/ME 9.7 - Motor electronics 2.7.2 (Chassis CAN bus)/Control unit version: Version internal VC_7_3 or
higher (Software status 07/10 or newer).

If new software is present: procedure is complete.

If new software is not present continue with procedure:

Install engine control module software:

Follow DAS path: Control units/Drive/ME 9.7 - Motor electronics 2.7.2 (Chassis CAN bus)/Control unit adaptations/Control module
programming (follow on screen instructions).

4.

SCN code engine control module:

Continue with menu item: Control unit programming/Variant coding/SCN coding and follow on screen instructions.
