Distronic Plus Unavailable/"Distronic Plus mph" Displayed in Instrument Cluster

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles with any of the below conditions, replace the airbag control module (N2/7). Refer to WIS
document AR91.60-P-0624SX.

Conditions which Occur During the Respective Ignition Sequence:

"Distronic Plus--- mph" displayed within the instrument cluster when attempting to activate Distronic

^

Automatic release of the parking brake may not be possible and the message "Release Parking Brake" is displayed in conjunction with an acoustic
warning.

Event code 7402 (CAN signal "Seat belt buckle switch" is implausible) will be stored in the Adaptive Brake (ABR) control module.

In order to permit activation of Distronic Plus, the ABR control unit requires that certain prerequisites be satisfied, such as the signal that the driver has
fastened his seat belt (seat belt buckle closed). This specific information is provided by the airbag control unit.

It may happen that the initialization phase of the airbag control unit is not completed during the initialization phase of the ABR control unit, and
consequently that information "seat belt buckle closed" or "seat belt buckle open" is not available in the ABR control unit. This results in the ABR
control unit defining the seat belt buckle signal as implausible and results in the lack of activation of Distronic Plus.

Note:

A prerequisite for this condition is that the fault codes shown must not be stored within the airbag control unit (N2/7), the Supplemental Restraint
System (SRS) warning lamp is not illuminated, and no messages are displayed within the instrument cluster.
