ENGINE 120 INSPECTION OF INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS

Intake Manifold Gasket

When performing repairs which involve the removal/replacement of the intake manifold, the intake manifold gaskets must be inspected prior to
reinstallation of the manifold. Two versions of intake manifold gaskets are used (Figure 1).

Depending on which version is installed, proceed as follows:

The previous version, part number 120 140 05 44, must be replaced with the modified version, part number 120 140 07 44, before reinstalling the 
intake manifold.

The modified version, part number 120 140 07 44, as installed in present production, must be inspected prior to installation of the intake manifold.
The seal lip must be intact for proper sealing. If the seal lip is distorted, the intake manifold gasket must be replaced (Figures 2 and 3).
