Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Front

PREPARATION 

-

Remove front wheel hub. See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair  

REMOVAL 

1. Using punch (05a) tool No. 140 589 00 15 00, or equivalent, knock out inner tapered roller bearing (9a) and radial seal ring (9a)
2. Using punch (05a) knock out bearing race of outer tapered roller bearing (9c)

3. Using pulling-out tool (O5), pull bearing race of inner tapered roller bearing (9b) out of front wheel hub
4. Clean tapered roller bearings and front wheel hub

INSPECTION 

-

Check tapered roller bearings and bearing races

-

Check front wheel hub

-

Check tapped holes and rotor teeth for damage

INSTALLATION 

1. Using pulling-in device (05b,05c) tool No 140 589 00 43 00, or equivalent, pull bearing races (9b, 9c) into front wheel hub
2. Install inner tapered roller bearing (91) in front wheel hub

Grease tapered roller bearing before installing
