REMOVAL
WARNING

Risk of fatal injury due to vehicle slipping off or tilting on the hoist
^
Align vehicle between the pillars of the hoist and position the four support plates at the hoist mounting points specified by the vehicle
manufacturer

Refer to the illustration above and the information below during removal procedures
-
Remove 12 point collared nut (12) from axle shaft flange as follows:
-
Engage parking brake.

Unscrew and remove twelve point collared nut for fastening the rear axle shaft.

Remove brake shoes at parking brake, refer to Brakes and Traction Control
-
Remove speed sensor at wheel carrier
-
Discard self-locking and fitted bolts
-
Remove axle stub shaft from drive flange as follows:
a. Screw hexagon nut onto threaded bolt.
b. Screw threaded bolt into threaded spindle of the removal tool and tighten securely.
c. Press out rear axle shaft with removal/installation tool and remove.
INSTALLATION

Reverse procedures to install, noting the following:

Replace self-locking bolts and nuts

Replace fitted bolts

If axle stub to be installed has been tapped for install ation tools, proceed with installation:
