5. Detach retainer for seat belt anchorage (127)
6. Detach propeller shaft intermediate bearing (106a)
7. Detach propeller shaft from rear axle center assemble
8. Separate front propeller shaft from rear propeller shaft (106)

If required, place match marks for later assembly

9. Using a suitable 41 mm socket and holder tool No. 129 589 01 07 00, or equivalent, remove twelve point collared nut from pinion shaft

NOTE:  It is not necessary to undo the staking on the collared nut

10. Remove joint flange from pinion shaft, remove and discard O-ring (41b)

If necessary use puller tool No. 129 589 01 033 00, or equivalent.

11. Press out radial seal ring (42) using a suitable tool
12. Remove and discard the rear axle breather

INSTALLATION

-

Install in reverse order, noting the following information:

-

Check condition of oil slinger (43c), if loose on shaft, replace

-

Replace the rear axle breather, tighten to:  30 Nm

-

Press in a new seal using driver tool No. 140 589 02 15 00, or equivalent

-

Install joint flange with new O-ring (41b), then twelve point collard nut

-

Tighten collared twelve point nut to: 120-130 Nm 

-

Using a suitable shop made tool, stake the collared twelve point nut to the pinion shaft as shown in the illustration

-

Lubricate splines of the propeller shaft using a suitable long term NLG1 class 2 or equivalent grease

-

Install propeller shaft as follows:
-

Install propeller shaft with bolts finger tight

-

Tighten propeller shaft to flexible discs at flanges to: 60 Nm
