Additionally, in the HFM-SFI, ME-SFI and IFI systems, the Actual Values for the DAS system should be ignored and the "Identification" procedure
(refer to "Operational Description of DAS", subject B) cannot be performed.

Remote Central Locking (RCL) Control Module (N54) Notes

In event the HHT cannot access the version coding menu (error message: the vehicle is locked via RCL) after replacing the RCL module (N54), access
can be restored by performing the version coding on the engine control module. Enter the version coding screen for the engine control module, write
down the information and perform all steps as if the module was being replaced. Enter the version code (also available from the parts microfiche/EPC)
and VIN (without the WDB) as directed and answer Yes to "Perform Identification?". Once this step is completed, the RCL version coding can be
performed. When performing diagnosis according to the Diagnostic Manual (Body & Accessories, Volume 1, Section 4.5), first check the part number of
the RCL control module (N54) using the HHT. If part number 210 820 28 26 is installed, diagnosis differs as follows:

The red and green feedback lamps flash only once alternately, not for 30 seconds when the vehicle is locked, as described in chapter 11 of the
Diagnostic Manual.

Data is not transmitted between the engine control module and RCL as described in chapter 12.

^

The engine control module and RCL module are not connected via CAN as described in chapter 21.

^

The following test steps are not valid:

Chapter 11, steps 5.0 and 6.0 Chapter 23, steps 21.0 through 30.0

Note:

If the RCL control module is identified as 210 820 27 26, these differences do not apply. When replacing only the RCL control module (i.e. not in
conjunction with the engine control module), order the same part number as is installed in the vehicle. As these modules are programmed to the
specific VIN, delivery may take 2-3 weeks. When replacing the engine control module, please refer to the procedure below.

Replacing Engine Control Module

In the event an engine control module must be replaced in a vehicle produced without DAS (verified as mentioned in subject A), a new engine control
module with a different part number, along with a new RCL control module, also with a different part number (210 820 27 26) coded to the specific
VIN, must be ordered. Both control modules must be replaced simultaneously. Refer to the parts microfiche/EPC to determine the correct replacement
parts.

Note:

Installation of the new RCL and engine control module will result in equipping the vehicle with DAS.

Removing and Installing RCL control module.

firewall.)

Note:

This procedure is only necessary when replacing the RCL control module in conjunction with the engine control module. When replacing only the
RCL module, use all original connectors.
