In Case of Warranty
A. Vehicles Without Drive Authorization System (DAS)
A limited number of early Model Year 1996 model 140 and 210 vehicles were produced without DAS. In these vehicles, both the engine control module
(HFM-SFI [N3/4], ME-SF [N3/10], or IFI [N3/7]) and the RCL control module (N54) are different from the versions used in vehicles equipped with
DAS.
Effective Serial Number
As of the chassis numbers listed (approx. 9/95), the engine control module (HFM-SFI, ME-SFI, or F1) and remote central locking (RCL) control
modules installed in production may be different from the standard version having DAS. (The vehicles with these differences are positively identified by
locking vehicle with RCL remote control from the inside of the vehicle, if the vehicle does not start it is equipped with DAS. On new vehicles, a $ 475
credit is shown on the Monroney label if the vehicle is NOT equipped with DAS.)
The ending VIN's for this change have not yet been established, as the program remains in effect at the factory.
Hand-Held Tester (HHT) Diagnosis
The following DTC's are set, and cannot be erased, on vehicles not equipped with DAS (verified as mentioned in subject A):
