Operation 

In automatic transmission 722.6 the electrohydraulic control module converts the electrical signals produced by the electronic transmission control
(ETC) into hydraulic signals.

The shift linkage makes the mechanical connection between the selector lever and transmission in the selector lever positions "P", "R", "N", "D".
Selector lever positions "4", "3", "2", "'1 " are triggered electrically, a transmission upshift is only possible up to the preselected shift range.

Faults occurring in the ETC control module (N15/3) are handled by the limp-home system. This is designed to allow the driver to reach a service
outlet even under extreme conditions.
