Front Door Window Regulator: Service and Repair

Preliminary work:

Door liner on driver's door removed. Refer to "Replacement of Door Liner". See: Body and Frame/Doors, Hood and Trunk/Doors/Front
Door/Front Door Panel/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement 

Sealing rail on inside of door shaft 

remove.

Screws on window lift bar 

screw out (4 each, arrows).

Side window 

push up by hand and secure against falling with plastic wedge.

Window lift mechanism 

move to half-open position (position for removal and installation).

Electrical connections on window lift motor 

disconnect.

Rivets (1-4) for fastening window lift mechanism to interior door panel 

drill out (4 each); use 4.8 mm bit.

Installation hooks (A and B) for window lift mechanism on interior door panel 

unhook.

Window lift bar 

pull out of slider (arrow) at rear.

Window lift mechanism 

remove through installation opening.

Remaining pieces of rivets 

remove on window lift mechanism and out of door shaft.

Installation 

reinstall in opposite order. When riveting the window lift mechanism onto the interior door panel assure that the window lift mechanism is hooked
onto the interior door panel and makes full contact. Use pop rivets with shank diameter of 4.8 mm.

After installation 

adjust window.

NOTE:  The window lift motor can be removed and installed without removing the window lift mechanism.
