Verify light signals at trailer hitch socket (13-pin) (X58) function correctly using a light bar (1), for example.

1. Switch on ignition.
2. Check turn signal indicators at left and right.
3. Simulate failure of the left or right direction indicator lamp.

The flashing frequency of the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster must double.

4. Check hazard warning system.
5. Check standing lamp.
6. Check backup lamps.
7. Check stop lamp.
8. Check rear fog lamp on trailer.

The rear fog lamp on the vehicle must not light up.

9. Simulate failure of the rear fog lamp on the trailer.

The rear fog lamp on the vehicle must light up.

10. Check continuous voltage of circuit 30 at the trailer hitch socket (13-pin) (X58).

Switch of ignition and remove ignition key.

Use the multimeter to measure voltage between the contacts "10" and "11".

11. Check switched voltage of circuit 15 at the trailer hitch socket (13-pin) (X58).

Switch on ignition.

Use the multimeter to measure voltage between the contacts "9" and "13".
