NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

REMOVAL

1. Detach steering shock absorber (46) from drag link

2. Unscrew nut (11e) of drag link (11)

-

Steady ball pivot with Allen wrench, if necessary

3. Using assembled thrust piece (051) tool No. 129 589 63 00 and puller (053) tool No. 124 589 33 00, or equivalents press off drag link (11) at 

pitman arm and steering idler arm

INSTALLATION

Reverse procedures to install, noting the following:

When installing, clean grease off tapers and press ball joints of drag link securely into the steering arm

Check joints for play and damaged rubber boots

-

Replace drag link, if necessary

-

Replace self-locking nuts

-

Check and adjust toe-in at "Wheels, Tires and Alignment". See: Alignment/Service and Repair

-

Tighten Steering shock absorber on drag link to: 40 Nm

-

Tighten self-locking nuts of drag link to: 50 Nm
