All the data required for an EMERGENCY CALL are processed centrally in the emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8) . It
calculates the vehicle position with the aid of the installed GPS control unit and generates an emergency call telegram in the event of an emergency call.
An installed rollover sensor detects any vehicle rollover.
The telephone transmitter/receiver (A35) is connected directly to the emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8).

The data from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) are received over a serial interface.

The emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8) restraint receives the following messages from the systems control unit (N2/7) :

Test signal for checking function

B3:

Front end collision, emergency tensioning retractor activated

B4:

Rear end collision, emergency tensioning retractor activated

B5:

Front end collision, airbag deployed

B6:

Side collision, sidebag triggered

After the EMERGENCY CALL has been switched on, the emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8) waits for a readiness
message from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) . If this has not been received after a period of 30 s, the state display in the EMERGENCY CALL
system pushbutton switch (S93/3) lights up and the fault is stored in the fault memory.
Readiness messages arriving later are nevertheless accepted, the state display then goes out again.

After the message of readiness has been received, the ( emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL) (A35/8) awaits further confirmation
of readiness every 500 ms. If this remains switched off for longer than 3 s, then the state display in the EMERGENCY CALL system pushbutton switch
(S93/3) lights up and the error is stored in the fault memory of the emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8). Later incoming
messages are still received An EMERGENCY CALL is automatically triggered, when a crash message is received in the emergency call system control
unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8) .

The Emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8) is HHT-diagnosis capable.
At " circuit 15R: ON" the emergency call system control unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8) must not be rotated around a longitudinal or transverse
axis. The installed rollover sensor would then register a rollover and trigger an EMERGENCY CALL. For this reason the emergency call system control
unit (EMERGENCY CALL, A35/8) must always be placed down in installation position with the cables attached when removed and secured against
falling over.
