After a TELE AID telediagnosis is activated, the CTEL and TELE AID transmitter/receiver, D2B (A35/17) automatically generates an emergency call
message.
It includes the following information:

Location of the vehicle: degrees longitude and latitude

^

Data for vehicle identification
-

Model, model year, type of engine

^

Information on current vehicle status
-

Engine temperature

-

Mileage

-

Battery voltage

-

Displayed malfunction and warning messages

The emergency call telegram is transmitted to the Mercedes Benz Customers Assistance Center (CAC) via mobile telephone (digital network) and is
automatically decoded there to start corresponding help measures.

TELE AID telediagnosis does only operate when the system is authorized.

After an emergency call is actuated, an emergency call telegram is automatically generated by the E-CALL control unit (A35/8). It includes the following
information:

Vehicle location

^

Type of emergency call actuation: automatic or manual with the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3),

^

Crash parameter from restraint system control unit (N2/7) and tilting cone sensor (B66),

^

Identification number for identifying vehicle,

^

Time of emergency call.

The emergency call telegram is relayed to the E-call center via mobile telephone.

This service has not been available in Japan since 31.12.2003

In the E-CALL control unit (A35/8) up to three generated emergency call telegrams are stored. If already more than three emergency call telegrams are
stored the oldest telegram is written over.
