SRS Lamp Illumination
If you receive customer reports in the above models of illumination of the SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) lamp within the instrument cluster,
accompanied by either of the below diagnostic fault codes perform the following procedure.
Fault Codes:
[B1859-The Ignition Circuit With Component R12/13 Driver's Airbag Ignition Squib 1 has > resistance]
[B1860-The Ignition Circuit With Component R12/14 Driver's Airbag Ignition Squib 2 has > resistance]
Procedure:
1)
Using STAR Diagnosis follow the "Guided Tests" procedures for "Test Ignition Circuit With Component R12/13 or R12/14 Driver Airbag
Ignition Squib 1 or 2 For Incorrect Resistance". If the "Guided Test" instructs possible causes and remedies as wiring related, then proceed with
step 2. Otherwise continue diagnostics as outlined within STAR Diagnosis.
2)
Remove the Smartkey from the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS).
3)
Remove the driver's airbag. Refer to WIS document AR91.60-P-0660R.
4)
Remove the steering wheel. Refer to WIS document AR46.10-P-01001.
Note:
Do not reuse the original steering wheel countersunk bolt, a new bolt is required during installation.
5)
Remove the clock spring contact. Refer to WIS document AR46.10-P-02001.
6)
Remove the steering angle sensor. Refer to WIS document AR46.10-P-03001.
7)
Remove the steering column module. Refer to WIS document AR54.25-P-28021.
8)
Locate the steering column module connector (Figure 1), and remove it from the steering column mounting bracket.
Note:
There are two retaining clips on the side of the steering column module connector that must be released prior to connector removal. Care should be
taken when releasing the retaining clips, as they can be easily fractured.
9)
Remove electrical tape from electrical harness, in order to expose wires.
10)
Remove terminal 11 (brown/yellow wire) and terminal 4 (yellow wire) from the steering column module connector.
