The airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) in the instrument cluster (A1) serves as a function check of the supplemental restraint system. In the
event of a fault, in addition, a message appears in the left multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1).
System is OK:

If the system is OK, the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) comes on with "Terminal 15R ON" and goes out again after approx. 4 to 20
seconds. If this is not the case, then a system fault exists.

Uncritical faults:

Faults or malfunctions which do not endanger the protection of the occupants exist if the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) in position
"Terminal 15R ON" comes on for more than 20 seconds and goes out again.

In addition the message "SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM SERVICE" appears in the left multifunction display (A1p13).

Critical faults:

Faults or malfunctions which could lead to no or incorrect deployment of the safety elements are displayed when the engine is running by the
continuous illumination of the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15). When such a fault occurs occupant protection can no longer be
guaranteed.

In addition the message "SUPPLEMENTAL
RESTRAINT SYSTEM - VISIT WORKSHOP" appears in the left multifunction display (A1p13).

In the event of a fault or malfunction, the complete system should be checked immediately using STAR DIAGNOSIS. The seat belt mechanical
protection function is independent of the restraint systems control module (N2/7) and is not monitored by the system.
