N2/2 Driver Passenger ETR with Airbag (AB) Control Module (30-pin)

The 30-pin control module, like the 16-pin control modules used previously, is rigidly connected on a bracket to the transmission tunnel of the car.

The operation is largely identical and differs only in a small number of respects from the previous versions. The most important point is that it has a
connection facility for the hand held tester (HHT).

The 30-pin control module features a diagnostic interface and can be read, programmed and parameterized with the hand held tester using the data link
connector (X11/4) in the module box or control module box.

The control module is able to store three accidents involving activation of the air bag before it has to be replaced.

NOTE:  If a new control module is installed, it must always then be programmed and parameterized with the hand held tester.

Activation Logic (up to Approx. 06/93) - Driver & Passenger Airbag

Explanatory notes
If the severity of the accident is only slight and the protection offered by the seat belts is adequate, only the emergency tensioning retractors are activated
if the 1st activation threshold is exceeded, provided the belt latches are inserted in the buckles.

If the 1st activation threshold is exceeded and the belt latches are not inserted in the buckles, the two airbags are activated as a protection for the driver
and passenger.

If the 2nd activation threshold is exceeded and the belt latches are inserted in the buckles, the driver and passenger airbags are activated.
