Torsion Bar: Service and Repair
Rear

1. Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Remove rear tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove both left and right torsion bar connecting rod attaching bolts.
4. Remove torsion bar bearing to frame floor attaching bolts.
5. Remove rubber mounts.
6. Remove driveshaft intermediate bearing attaching bolts, then bearing.
7. Remove driveshaft to rear axle flange attaching bolts, then separate driveshaft from rear axle assembly.
8. On models with anti-lock brake system (ABS), loosen RPM sensor cable bracket attaching screw, then remove RPM sensor.
9. Support rear axle assembly, then remove rear axle bearing to frame floor attaching bolts.

10. Slightly lower rear axle and turn torsion bar gently to left, then remove torsion bar.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
