Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Service Precautions

If the connection between the steering gear and steering shaft is separated, the steering wheel must not be turned otherwise the contact spiral will be
destroyed.
Therefore always allow the Steering wheel lock to engage.

For all work on the steering wheel, jacket tube and steering gear keep the front wheels in the straight ahead position.

Observe safety regulations for Airbag

Before removing the steering wheel, disconnect the flat-pin connector for the signal horn (38b and 38c) and push through the impact absorber in the
steering wheel.
