Seat Belt Replacement Regulations

A. Following Mechanical Damage

Seat belts can be damaged when handled improperly (improperly cleaned, improperly rolled up or pinched). For this reason the belts should be
checked visually each time the car is serviced. If fibers in the belt are cut or other damage noted, e.g. from a burning cigarette, advise the customer that
the belt needs to be replaced urgently. If the belt is only frayed without cut fibers replacement is not necessary.

If a customer refuses to replace a damaged seat belt, note this on the repair order.

If a customer complains that the "seat belt does not retract properly", check before removing whether the belt is properly returned by hand and
whether it is twisted 180° behind the covering due to improper handling. For this purpose remove the covering.

B. Following Accidents

If one or both of the emergency tensioning retractors was not actuated during an accident, check for mechanical damage according to point A.

If one or both of the emergency tensioning retractors was actuated during an accident, always replace the complete emergency tensioning retractor and
check the belt buckle for mechanical damage, replace if required.

Both emergency tensioning retractors are actuated simultaneously (parallel circuit).

Emergency tensioning retractors are actuated only when the locking tongue is inserted into the belt buckle.

Check ETR housing visually. The ETR has been activated if no cable can be seen in the inspection window.
