The driver is warned that the oil level is too low by means of the indication in the instrument cluster.

Oil level switch at oil pan switches to ground. Contact opens if oil level is too low.

NOTE:  The information is transmitted over CAN from the ME-SFI control module to the instrument cluster as of production breakpoint
CAN-compatible instrument cluster.
