4. Slide thrust ring (70b)and locking ring (70c) together onto the steering shaft (70g). Ensure that the locking ring (70e) engages correctly in the

groove of the steering shaft.

Two locking rings are fitted on vehicles with contact spirals.

5. Push on thrust ring (70d) and disk spring (70e).
6. Mount retaining ring (70f) with the chamfer towards the disk spring on the steering shaft and press on using a suitable tube (072) until the disk

spring (70e) is fully preloaded.

NOTE:

Check shaft for ease of movement.

The steering shaft must not have any play in the inner jacket tube and must be able to turn without jamming.

7. Insert new lock plate (92e) so that the retaining lugs point towards the lock nut. 
8. Tighten lock nut (92d) slightly by hand.
9. Assemble locking ring (80g) on upper steering shaft (70g).
