The mechanic must perform the authorization process, i.e. he must ensure that a vehicle with functioning telematic services is handed over to the
user.

Application and application shipping for TELE AID

Together with the user the salesperson must completely prepare two application forms (debitel order telematic and debitel card order for Mercedes-Benz
special equipment) and send them to debitel.

When filling out the applications ensure that the data (vehicle chassis number, vehicle license plate, GSM number) is completely and correctly entered,
otherwise it is not possible to perform the authorization. It is particularly important to enter the authorization date (access authorization date).

After filling out the applications send to the CAC (Customer Assistance Center) (fax).

Checking delivery date

Authorization of TELE AID is performed on the day entered in the application for access authorization.

This deadline depends on the delivery date of the vehicle from the Mercedes-Benz plant. The salesman coordinates the transfer date with the user and
plans the date for the access authorization.

The dealer picks up the confirmation for the delivery date from Mercedes-Benz and then plans the date for access authorization.

NOTE:  The authorization works only on this particular day (key word:  Authorization for specific day, the authorization messages are transmitted to the
telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) by the service centers via the GSM network. This is only accomplished on a particular
day, i.e. the access authorization date.

Modifying access authorization date

If the day of the authorization is postponed, inform CAC about the the new deadline (telephone fax).

For precise identification of the vehicle to be authorized the CAC requires the data of the telematic application.

If the CAC is not informed about the modification of the access authorization date the dealer is not able to perform an authorization (changing form for
access authorization date).

Before starting the actual authorization check the following list. Refer to the checklist to ensure that the authorization is prepared in full.

1. The TELE AID SIM card is installed in the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17)
2. The telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) is programmed.

If the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) is installed ex factory it is already programmed at the company.

If the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID D2B is a replacement unit it should be programmed on site.

3. TELE AID is applied for (telematic application sent to debitel)
4. In the handset is no SIM card inserted
5. The authorization corresponds to the access authorization day on the telematic application
6. PIN for TELE AID SIM card is known

NOTE:  The PIN is stored in the letter of the telephone card, which can only be opened when the customer is present.

Authorization sequence

1. Switch on c. 15 R (ignition)
2. Display on handset informs that no telematic services (error message in instrument cluster) are available
3. Display on handset informs that the service mode* is presently active, quit this mode
4. Display on handset requests PIN for TELE AID SIM, enter PIN on handset (entered numbers are not indicated, only space holders (asterix)
5. Display on handset requests further processing steps for entered PIN code, store PIN, which is absolutely necessary for using TELE AID
6. Automatic authorization is now started and completed after 15 minutes. C. 15 R should be switched on during this time.

Service mode*

The service mode on the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) deactivates the automatic switchover of the system to the
additional battery, when the main power supply is interrupted. The service mode is switched on by STAR diagnosis. It is also switched off by STAR
diagnosis or via the handset.

Following authorization the error messages in the instrument cluster are erased. If the error messages are not erased after an expiration of 15 minutes a
malfunction is present.

NOTE:  Switch ignition on and off after authorization time.
