Emergency Call Telegram Transmission, Function

After a TELE AID telediagnosis is triggered the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) generates a telegram and transmits it
to the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) via mobile telephone (D-network). Then a radio connection (voice connection) is completed
to the vehicle.

In the case of an emergency the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) take over the sole control of the telephone system to
ensure the following:

If the telephone is switched off before the actuation, it must be activated

-

a possible present telephone connection is interrupted,

The radio link is established through the telephone system with the aid of the CTEL antenna (A2/22).

If the CTEL antenna (A2/22) is no longer operational because of an accident, the CTEL and TELE AID transmitter/receiver, D2B (A35/17) switches
automatically over to the TELE AID backup antenna (A2/50). If the power supply is interrupted (for example battery interruption) the telephone
transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) switches automatically over to the additional battery (G1/I).

The Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) has a graphic-capable workstation with street data base. There the information from the
emergency call telegram serve for determining the vehicle location and the vehicle status and the required steps to be taken can be clarified with the
Mercedes-Benz experts by telephone.

NOTE:  The emergency call system must be authorized to transmit an emergency call telegram.

After the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) has received a TELE AID telediagnosis a radio link is established to the vehicle to ask the
driver what type of fault has occurred. This allows to start rescue measures corresponding to the vehicle defect.

The radio connection between the vehicle and the responsible service center is completed in the vehicle via the telephone system. If the CTEL antenna
(A2/22) is no longer operational because of a fault, the system switches over automatically to the TELE AID backup antenna (A2/50). If the power
supply is completely interrupted it is automatically switched over to the additional battery (G1/1).

The voice link is established through the hands-free microphone (B25) and the loudspeakers of the emergency call system (H4/46, H4/47).

Telediagnosis is a supplemented of the TELE AID emergency call The objective of the telediagnosis service is quick and aimed support of the "24 h
service".

The telediagnosis is triggered manually by the driver in the event of technical problems. When the TELE AID pushbutton is actuated (min. 2 seconds)
on the telephone handset an emergency call telegram generated automatically in the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) is
transmitted to the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC). It includes vehicle position data and data for quick and reliable handling of a
breakdown. The emergency call telegram is transmitted via mobile telephone (D-network). If the CTEL antenna (A2/22) is defective, the system
switches over automatically to the TELE AID backup antenna (A2/50).

If the power supply is interrupted (for example battery interruption) the telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) switches
automatically over to the additional battery (G1/1).

A short time after the telediagnosis is triggered an automatic voice connection is completed to the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC)
and to the diagnosis experts there. Further procedure are clarified with the driver.

If the error can be eliminated with the aid of the diagnosis experts the telediagnosis is completed.

If the fault is not rectified, the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) takes further remedial measures. If local help is required position data
are taken over into a mapping program with an electronic card. This serves for determining the vehicle location and and the next MB service center. The
latter is informed and receives the required vehicle data from the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) to start effective help measures.

NOTE:  Telediagnosis can only operate when the system is authorized.
