Function

The manual emergency call can be actuated by pressing the "SOS" pushbutton switch marking with the imprint "SOS".
The SOS pushbutton switch is covered by a protective lid. Pressing the protective lid unlocks the lid, and it automatically opens with the aid of a spring
mechanism. The SOS pushbutton switch is designed as a normally closed switch.
In rest position, an electric current is flowing (in parallel to the switch contact) through the control resistor installed in the SOS pushbutton switch.
This allows the emergency call system control unit to determine whether the feed line and ground line are OK. When actuating the SOS pushbutton
switch, the control resistor is bridged by the switch contact. The SOS pushbutton switch is read in by the emergency call system control unit over a
discreet line. When the SOS button switch is pressed, a manual emergency call is recognized by the emergency call system control unit and then
transmitted. The emergency call system control unit then intermittently (temporarily off) actuates one of the two LEDs.
The flashing LED provides the driver with visual feedback that the function has been actuated as long as the manual emergency call is active.
This is also accomplished in the event of an automatic emergency call (actuation through crash signal including crash level from restraint system control
unit (N2/7)).
In the event of a fault in the emergency call system, the two red LEDs are actuated continuously by the emergency call system control unit.
