Function requirements
Each telematics service must be authorized separately. If there is a malfunction or if there is no authorization available, an error message is displayed on
the left multifunction display (A1p13) and on the right multifunction display (A1p15) in the instrument cluster (A1) and on the screen of the COMAND
operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
Self-test
When terminal 15R is active, the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) conducts a self-test (lasting approx. 3.5 s). If the selftest is successful, then
the system is operational.
Ending an emergency call
An emergency call is normally ended by the emergency call center.
After several unsuccessful attempts to place an emergency call, this function is canceled in the emergency call system control unit (N123/4).

Component Identification
Authorizing TELE AID emergency call
With the authorization the service provider authorizes the actuation of a TELE AID emergency call. The authorization is vehicle and not person-related.
Authorization is required in the following cases:

When the system is initially started up.

With a new SIM Subscriber Identification Module) for card ( TELE AID

When the vehicle owner changes
^
After expiration of a period of 6 months following last authorization (this procedure takes place automatically in the background).
