Engine - Correct Oil Level Message Displayed

Display In Instrument Cluster: "Correct Oil Level"

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicle of the display in the instrument cluster reading "Correct Oil Level", please refer to the below
remedy to resolve. This may be caused by a detached rubber lining out of the crankshaft sprocket wheel that is restricting the output of the oil transfer
pump.

Remedy:

1.

Check oil level using DAS and correct oil level if necessary.

a.

Park vehicle on a level surface.

b.

Pre-condition the engine oil temperature to = or > 194 deg F.

c.

Let the engine run at idle speed for at least 30 seconds and (while engine is still running at idle) check oil level actual value reading in 'mm'.
Oil level is set at MAX if oil level reading is between 47 mm and 50 mm.

d.

If necessary, correct oil level by setting the oil level to the MAX reading.

2.

Determine the oil level at engine speed of 2000 rpm.

a.

Raise the engine speed to 2000 rpm and check the oil level reading at this speed

b.

Compare the oil level readings at idle speed and at 2000 rpm.

c.

If the difference between both measured oil level readings is 27 mm or less; do not go any further, repair is not necessary since the oil level
was low to begin with.

d.

If the difference between both measured oil level readings exceeded 27 mm, proceed to step 3.

3.

Drain engine oil and drop the oil pan.

a.

Inspect engine oil and oil pan for presence of detached rubber particles.

b.

If detached rubber particles are found, proceed to step 4. If no particles are found, clean/check and reassemble.

4.

R&R the following parts

a.

Updated crankshaft sprocket, part no. A137 052 01 03

b.

Intake oil pump manifold, part no. A275 186 09 15

C.

Oil filter, part no. A275 180 00 09

Note:

The updated crankshaft sprocket can be identified with "blue" marking on the face of the sprocket's hub.

5.

Inspect intermediate gear guide sprocket part no. A113 050 01 05 for damage. Replace if damaged.

6.

Re-install oil pan and refill engine with proper engine oil.
