ABS - Sensotronic(R) Brake Module Ground Stud Loose

Replacement of SBC Ground Stud

If in the above models you encounter that the Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) ground connection stud (W3/1) requires replacement due to a loose or
detached body connection, perform the following.

1. Remove SBC ground wire harness from ground location W3/1 (Figure 1, circle).
2. Remove ground stud from right front wheelhouse.
3. Drill the original SBC ground stud hole located in the wheelhouse with a 10 mm drill bit.
4. Grind hole from below, ensuring that the surface is free of contaminates.
5. Position new ground stud (Figure 2) into 10 mm hole from above.
6. Weld ground stud from below with 3 tack welds.
7. Smooth and clean the repaired area on both sides using a wire brush.
8. Apply primer, seam sealant, and paint to the repaired area. Reference WIS documents AH98.00-Z-9999AZ, and AR97.10-P-0500-02A.
9. Attach SBC ground wire harness to new stud, ensure a tightening torque of between 7 and 10 Nm.
