Back Window Glass: Procedures

AR67.20-P-3000-06R Checking Adjustment Of Rear Window On Vario Roof, If Necessary Adjusting

- except CODE (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series"

Rear Window

Vario roof opened several centimeters.

Checking

1. Visual inspection of upper Y-stops (1) and lower Y-stops (7).

If traces of wear are present on the upper Y-stops (1) and lower Y-stops (7), the contact pressure is too high and the corresponding upper Y-stops
(1) and lower Y-stops (7) require adjustment.

2. Slightly grease upper Y-stops (1) and lower Y-stops (7).
3. Completely close Vario roof and open several centimeters.
4. Check contact surfaces on upper Y-stops (1) and lower Y-stops (7) visually.

If traces of grease are not visible on the contact surfaces, the contact pressure is too high and the corresponding upper Y-stops (1) and lower
Y-stops (7) require adjustment.

5. Check whether Z-stops (3) are under tension on rear window mounts (5) on left and right.

If pretension is not present, adjust Z-stops (3).
Close Vario roof, trunk lid open.

Adjust left or right upper Y-stop (1)

6. Loosen bolt (2) and press upper Y-stop (1) toward inside, tighten bolt (2).

Adjust left and right lower Y-stop (7)

7. Loosen screw (6) and press lower Y-stop (7) toward outside and tighten bolt (6).

Adjust left and right Z-stop (3)

8. Open Vario roof several centimeters with soft top switch

Leave ignition switched on (stop mode).

9. Loosen counternut (4) and screw in Z-stops (3) several turns

10. Completely close Vario roof with soft top switch
11. Remove Z-stops (3) until they make contact with rear window mounts (5)
12. Open Vario roof several centimeters with soft top switch

Leave ignition switched on (stop mode).

13. Turn Z-stops (3) back one turn and tighten jam nut (4) to specified torque.
