Squeaking Noise When Gently Applying Brake
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a squeaking noise when gently applying the brake, please perform the following
procedure.
1.
Using STAR Diagnosis check for fault codes contained within the Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) unit.
Note:
If no fault code(s) exist continue with prescribed procedure. If a fault code(s) exists, proceed according to diagnostics and guided tests outlined
within STAR Diagnosis.
2.
End the STAR Diagnosis session.
3.
Remove the STAR Diagnostic OBDII plug from the vehicle's data link connector.
4.
Depress the brake pedal a short distance with minimal force at least 20 times.
Note:
Ensure that the brake pedal is completely released for each of the 20 pedal applications.
Note:
It is not required to start the engine. Due to the nature of the noise, it may be best heard with the engine, audio, and climate control systems off.
5.
The squeaking noise should be audible for approximately 10 times and not audible for approximately 10 times.
Note:
It may be necessary to have an assistant at the hydraulic unit to identify the noise.
6.
If the noise has been clearly identified, perform the air release routine from the following STAR Diagnosis menus: Control Units --> Chassis -->
