Compression Check: Testing and Inspection
AR01.00-P-1200A Testing Compression Pressure
Testing Compression Pressure
Removal, Installation
1
Warm engine up to normal operating temperature (about 80 degrees C)
NOTE: Test compression pressure only when engine at operating temperature.
2
Remove spark plugs
3
Crank engine with starter
CAUTION: Do not crank engine at the steering lock, but use contact switch of the compression tester.
NOTE: Crank engine several times with the starter to eliminate combustion residues in cylinder.
Testing
4
Insert compression tester (01) into spark plug bore
5
Open throttle valve
6
Crank engine with starter
CAUTION: Do not crank engine at the steering lock, but use contact switch of the compression tester.
NOTE: Crank engine at least 8 revolutions to test compression pressure.
7
Perform test procedure at the remaining cylinders in the same manner
8
Compare readings obtained with permissible values
-
If minimum compression pressure is not reached or if the permissible difference between the individual cylinders is exceeded, Test cylinders
for leaks
9
Install in the reverse order.
