Please follow the instructions as per the attached "Hazardous Material Shipping Guidance Form" and return each removed left/right side airbag in its
shipping container only

6.

Install the replacement left/right side airbags in reverse order, see WIS Document AR91.60-P-0690G "Removing and installing side airbag in front
door".

Note: 

When connecting the side airbag wiring harness to the side airbag unit, ensure that the wiring harness connector audibly catches when reconnecting
the side airbag squibs.

Note: 

Rivet gun: Gesipa Model HN-2 is required to install left/right side airbags, using the steel rivets as listed in Parts Information. Please see the
MBUSA Standard Service Equipment Program (SSEP) for ordering instructions please call 1-888-458-4040.

7.

Perform diagnosis for the left/right side airbag, see Diagnostic Manual, Body and Accessories, Volume 5.1, section 16.3.

Note: 

Carefully review the entire section 16.3 prior to performing the diagnosis.

8.

Insert ignition key into ignition lock and turn ignition on, thereafter the SRS MIL lamp should illuminate and then extinguish, indicating normal
function.

9.

Reinstall removed door panel(s) in reverse order, see WIS document: AR72.10-P-1000G.

Procedure For Model 210.065/070/074/082/083/265/282

Note: 

The following procedure applies for replacement of either left/right or both side airbags

1.

Remove ignition key from ignition lock.

2.

Remove rear door interior panel(s), see WIS document: AR72.12-P-1010F.

3.

Pull off door foil in upper area of rear door(s).

4.

Disconnect connectors on rear airbag squib(s) (R12/11, R12/12, Figure 2).

5.

Drill out rivets (Arrows, Figure 2) of retaining plate for side airbag, see WIS Document AR91.60-P-0692F "Removing and installing rear side
airbags".

Note: 

Drill out rivets using a 7 mm diameter drill bit. Drill out rivet head using a circular motion with the drill, until the rivet head separates. Use caution
not to drill into the sheet metal mount. Alternatively, a spherical type of cutter could be used to remove the rivet head.
Wear eye protection when drilling out the rivets.

6.

Remove side airbag from driver's door frame and then disconnect side airbag wiring harness connector at the side airbag squib (R12/11, R12/12,
Figure 1).

7.

Once removed, place side airbag into shipping container of the replacement side airbag.

Note: 

Please follow the instructions as per the attached "Hazardous Material Shipping Guidance Form" and return each removed left/right side airbag in its
shipping container only.

8.

Install the replacement left/right side airbags in reverse order, see WIS Document AR91.60-P-0690A "Removing and installing side airbag in front
door".

Note: 

When connecting the side airbag wiring harness to the side airbag unit ensure that the wiring harness connector audibly catches when reconnecting
the side airbag squibs (R12/11. R12/12, Figure 2).
