The player for compact cassettes is integrated in the radio and navigation unit (A2/56).
After the "Audio" menu button in the left control panel is pressed, a selection of function groups appears on the display. Cassette mode is activated by
pressing the displayed "TAPE" button.
Cassette input/output
If the user presses the "Eject" button, the opening cover moves to the uppermost position in order to expose the opening. A cassette can now be loaded.
Likewise the cassette loaded is ejected again by pressing the "Eject" button.
Before this the recess surround moves upwards to release the recess. The cassette drive is operated using the function keyboard.
The cassette system has:

Auto reverse drive

Tape check

Fast forward and rewind (via cross rocker)

Automatic tape type detection

Dolby B (noise suppression for cassettes that were recorded using Dolby B)

"SKIP-BLANK if the drive does not detect a sound signal on the cassette for more than t = 15 seconds, the system fast forwards automatically to
the next track. If a next track is not detected, the tape is wound to end. When function is active, "SB" appears on display.

"SCAN" activates play track for t =. 8 sec. and automatic fast forward to next track. If no more tracks are detected, tape is wound to end.

"CPS" (cassette program search) (music title search)

"REPEAT" (repeat function)
If the repeat function is active, "WDH" appears in the display.
The sound amplifier (N93/1) performs final amplification of the signals before these are reproduced via the vehicle loudspeakers.
