Knocking Noise At Idle With Warm Engine
(Audible in Passenger Compartment)
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a knocking noise at idle with a warm engine, this may be caused by pressure pulsation
from the fuel feed line introduced into structure through fuel line bracket on bulkhead. To resolve, replace the fuel line bracket on the firewall (Figure 1).
Note:
New fuel line bracket with soft rubber insert (Figure 2), same part number.
The fuel line should be flush with the bracket (Figure 3). If required, the fuel line can be carefully bent into the correct position by hand.
Note:
On vehicles with production date earlier than 12/2001 the fuel feed hose needs to be replaced. Before replacing the fuel line, relieve fuel pressure at
fuel rail and bleed fuel system after replacing the fuel feed line.
