Remove engine.
2.1 Remove automatic transmission.
2.2 Remove manual transmission.

Remove flywheel.

Remove end cover.
NOTE: Installation: Replace rear crankshaft radial sealing ring.

Remove the cylinder head covers (15,16).

Air cleaner mounted on vehicle.

Air filter located on engine side.

Position crankshaft to 40 degrees after ignition TDC of cylinder 1.
NOTE: Engine must not be rotated backwards.

Take bottom part of oil pan (18) off top part of oil pan (19)

Take top part of oil pan (19) off crankcase.

Take timing case cover (31) off crankcase
CAUTION: Do not damage cylinder head gaskets.

Remove position sensor camshaft (L5/1).

Remove right camshaft sprocket (27)
NOTE: Installation: Check timing of engine if necessary after checking, Set the basic position of camshafts.

Take off rear balancing weight (20)
CAUTION: Check stem and thread length of bolt, when exceeding maximum length the bolt must be replaced, otherwise there is risk of
cracks and fracture.
NOTE:
-
Balancing shaft can only be removed to the front.
-
For this step, fix rear weight at crankcase with a pin or suitable drift (diameter 8.40 to 8.55 mm).

Take off locking plate (29) at front of balancing shaft (28).

Pull out balancing shaft (28) to the front.
NOTE: Installation: When installing balancing shaft, pay attention to assignment of balancing shaft to engine.

Install in the reverse order.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Run engine and inspect for leaks.

Inspect cooling system for leaks.
NOTE: Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
