Activating the overall system
Position 0 (key inserted)
In order to ensure a quicker switch-on process only the bus systems are activated for t = 3 minutes by inserting the remote control key (A8/1) in the EIS
control module (N73), position 0 (circuit 15C). If the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched on using the ON button (ON/OFF), the automatic
shut-off takes place after t = 30 min.
Position 1 (radio setting)
By turning remote control key (A8/1) in position 1 (c.15R. ON) the unit is switched on if it was switched on before the remote control key (A8/1) was
removed the last time. It remains in operation until the remote control key (A8/1) is removed again.
The function options are restricted to:
^
Control of radio and navigation unit (A2/56)
^
Upper multifunction display (A1p13) in instrument cluster (A1)
^
Operation via the multifunction steering wheel
Position 2 (ignition)
by turning the key further to position 2 (circuit 15 ON) all functions in the vehicle are rendered operational. The system active before the last switch-off
(e.g. radio and navigation unit (A2/56)) is switched on and the corresponding basic menu is displayed. If the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) was
switched off for longer than t = 30 min, a warning menu containing general information on how to operate the system is displayed.
Position 3 (engine start)
In position 3 (c. 50 ON) the engine is started. If a considerable voltage drop occurs while the engine is being started, the system switches itself off during
this time, and is switched on again after the on-board electrical system has stabilized.
Activating navigation
If the driver's door is opened the navigation is activated automatically via the controller area network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B). This procedure has
a duration of approx. 2 s. The display on the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) remains switched off If then no status change occurs on the EIS control
module (N73) (e.g. c. 15C or c. 15R ON), the navigation remains activated for t = 60 minutes.
Procedure for operating ON/OFF button
The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) can also be switched on with "C. 15 C OFF" by actuating the ON button (ON/OFF) on the rotary switch. All
media-oriented system transport (most) functions are available for t = 30 min.
The system switches off automatically once 30 minutes have elapsed. If the system has switched off after 30 minutes, the system can be switched on
again by pressing the ON button. The cycle of 30 minutes then starts from the beginning.
On/Off characteristics via AUTO-ON
If a telephone call or an SMS is received the telecommunications control module (N112) or the UPCI control module (universal portable cellular
telephone) (B123/1) is activated during the MOST system shut-off delay. A wake-up pulse is then activated via the MOST The system components are
"woken up". The MOST is ready for operation to provide the necessary functions Switch-off is accomplished via the ON button (ON/OFF) or with "C.
15 C OFF". An active phone call is not interrupted by removing the remote control key (A8/1). In this case, the MOST system switches itself off.
Switch off characteristics
The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched off with "c. 15C OFF" Then the shut-off delay time of t = 60 min (standby mode) starts. During this
time all important location finding parameters remain stored for the navigation.
Moreover, the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) and the audio gateway control module (N93/1) are always in "standby mode", when the CAN-B is
active
