Control of radio and navigation unit (A2/56) on multifunction steering wheel

With the aid of the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) as well as the upper
multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) various systems controlled via the media- oriented system transport (MOST) can be
operated and information for the system displayed.These include:

Audio systems (radio, CD drive, CC drive)

^

Telephone

The entire data exchange between the instrument cluster (A1) and the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is performed via the local interconnect network
(LIN) bus, the MOST and the controller area network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B).

All the button operations on the multifunction steering wheel are read in voltage-coded by the steering column module (N80) via the LIN-bus and placed
on the interior CAN-B.
The instrument cluster (A1) recognizes the coded messages and initiates the illustration of the momentarily activated or operated systems (Audio or
telephone) via the upper multifunction display(A1p13)
In parallel with this, the audio gateway control module (N93/1) picks up the commands for controlling the functions within the MOST system, converts
these into light pulses and with them actuates the necessary system components.
