Oil Pump Repairs

Fig. 17 Checking Inner Rotor Tip Clearance

1.

Remove end plate and withdraw O-ring from groove in body.

2.

Check clearance between inner rotor tip and outer rotor lobe, Fig. 17. This should not exceed .012 inch. Rotors are supplied only in a matched
pair.

3.

Check clearance between outer rotor and the housing. This should not exceed .013 inch.

4.

Place a straightedge across face of pump body. Clearance between face of rotors and straightedge should not exceed .004 inch.

5.

If necessary to replace rotor or drive shaft, remove outer rotor and then drive out retaining pin securing the skew gear to drive shaft and pull off the
gear.

6.

Withdraw inner rotor and drive shaft.
