Stalls during cold engine operation can be serviced by installing a new choke cap index baffle plate.
1.
Remove choke cap as outlined in 1983 Car Shop Manual, Section 24-07-5 & 6.
2.
Remove or "Yellow" choke index baffle plate.
3.
Install "Black" choke index baffle plate E3PZ- 9A539-B.
NOTE:
The original Yellow Index baffle plate equals 2NR, the new "Black" Index baffle plate equals 4NR.
4.
Install original choke cap as per 1983 Car Shop Manual, Section 24-04-6
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to
the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it
with a clear plastic decal shield.
