Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

Intake Manifold R&R

REMOVAL

1.

Disconnect negative battery terminal.

2.

Relieve fuel system pressure.

3.

Drain cooling system.

4.

Disconnect intercooler tube and/or air intake tube. Disconnect air bypass hoses.

5.

Disconnect main engine harness electrical connection and Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector.

6.

Disconnect vacuum hoses from throttle body.

7.

Disconnect fuel lines from filter and pressure regulator.

8.

Disconnect throttle cable.

9.

Disconnect hoses from Bypass Air Control (BAC) valve.

10.

Remove BAC valve retaining nut and bolt.

11.

Remove manifold retaining nuts and bolts from support bracket and cylinder head.

12.

Remove manifold and throttle body assembly.

INSTALLATION

1.

Install new manifold gasket. Ensure coolant passage openings align with openings in head and manifold.

2.

Install manifold. Tighten retaining nuts and bolts to 14 - 18 ft lb (19 - 25 Nm). Tighten support bracket retaining bolts to 23 - 34 ft lb (31 - 46
Nm).

3.

Install BAC valve, connect air hoses.

4.

Connect throttle cable.

5.

Connect fuel lines to filter and pressure regulator.

6.

Connect main engine harness connector and TP sensor connector.

7.

Connect vacuum lines to throttle body.

8.

Install intake air tube. Connect intercooler tube and/or air intake tube. Connect air bypass hoses.

9.

Fill cooling system.

10.

Connect negative battery terminal.

11.

Start engine. Check for proper operation.
