Assembly
1.
Lubricate the needle bearings with the special grease included in the caliper rebuilding kit part No. FOJY-2221-A as shown in Fig. 29.
2.
Install the adjuster spindle in the caliper by aligning the pins of the adjuster spindle with the holes of the caliper as shown in Fig. 30.
3.
Lubricate a new piston seal with brake fluid and install in caliper groove, then lubricate the caliper bore and caliper piston with brake fluid.
4.
Install the dust boot in the caliper bore, then the wire retainer spring.
5.
Install the piston in the caliper bore by rotating the piston until seated.
6.
Install the upper guide pin dust boot, then the lower guide pin bushing dust boot.
7.
Install the caliper upper guide pin, then the lower guide pin bushing.
8.
Install the brake pads as previously outlined in this section.
9.
Tighten the upper guide pin with allen wrench, then install dust cap with plastic hammer.
10.
Install the lower caliper bolt, then torque bolt to 29-36 ft. lbs.
11.
Perform brake bleeding procedures, then pump brake pedal several times to seat the pads.
12.
Check fluid level in master cylinder, then spin each rotor to ensure the brakes are not dragging.
13.
Install wheel and tire assembly. Torque wheel lug nuts to 65-88 ft. lbs.
Removal and Installation
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2.
Remove brake pads as previously outlined.
3.
Remove clip retaining the brake flex hose to the strut assembly.
4.
Remove the banjo bolt retaining the brake flex hose to the caliper assembly.
5.
Remove the two copper washers that seal the flex hose banjo fitting, then discard washers.
6.
Remove the lower caliper retaining bolt.
7.
Using a cold chisel, remove the upper caliper guide pin dust cap. This will allow access to the allen head on the guide pin.
8.
Using an allen wrench, loosen and remove the upper caliper guide pin.
9.
Lift the caliper off the rotor.
10.
Remove the guide pin and guide pin bushing dust boots from caliper assembly.
11.
Lubricate the guide pin and guide pin bushing with Disc Brake Caliper Slide Grease part No. D7AZ-19590-A or equivalent.
