Check to be sure the EGR valve is functional per Section 29-15 of the Car Shop Manual.

Test vehicle to determine if detonation is eliminated.
6.
Retard the ignition timing in 2° increments to a maximum of 6° from the specification on the Vehicle Emission Decal. Refer to Car Shop Manual,
Section 29-02.
NOTE:
Light detonation during a heavy crowd drive mode is acceptable.

Check idle speeds. Reset as required.
8.
Prepare an Authorized Modifications decal (FPS-8262) and list the date of service, dealer number and modifications performed as shown. Select a
prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic
shield.
