Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and alterations performed as shown below. Select a prominent place
adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the
decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.

This Modification Is Authorized Only For The Listed Engine Calibrations. Performing This Modification On Other Engine Calibrations Is
Unauthorized And Could Create Liability Under Applicable Federal Or Local Laws.

Spark knock and/or detonation in subject vehicles may be corrected by retarding the initial timing as follows:

1.

Check initial ignition timing to be sure it is to the specification on the Vehicle Emission Decal.

2.

Check to be sure all vacuum lines are connected and seated and they are not kinked, cracked or broken.

3.

Vehicles with AOD and dual mode ignition systems. Check operation of ignition timing vacuum switch (12A265) as follows:

a. Check ignition timing with vacuum switch fully connected - both electrically and to the vacuum supply.

b. Recheck ignition timing with the vacuum line removed from the switch. If the timing is not retarded 2-4° the switch is inoperative and must be
