Pressure Plate: Service and Repair
NOTE: Prior to installing throw-out bearing, apply a light film of lithium base lubricant part No. C1AZ-19590-B or equivalent to transmission front
bearing retainer outside diameter, the clutch release fork and anti-rattle spring where they contact the release bearing hub and to the throw-out bearing
where the bearing contacts the pressure plate release fingers. In addition, fill the throw-out bearing grease groove with the same lubricant. Wipe off all
excess lubricant.
NOTE: Lift clutch pedal upward to disengage clutch cable self adjuster pawl and quadrant. Push quadrant forward, then detach cable from quadrant and
allow quadrant to slowly swing rearward.

Loosen clutch cable adjusting nut to allow slack in cable. Disconnect cable from release lever.

Position gear shift lever in neutral, then remove lever attaching screws and the lever.

Raise and support vehicle.
4.
Remove dust shield.
5.
Remove driveshaft. Cover extension housing to prevent leakage.
6.
Disconnect electrical leads and speedometer cable from transmission.
7.
Support rear of engine and remove crossmember, then lower engine as necessary and remove transmission attaching bolts and transmission.
8.
Disconnect clutch release cable from lever and flywheel housing.
9.
Disconnect starter cable and remove starter motor.
10.
Remove flywheel housing.
11.
Evenly loosen and remove pressure plate attaching screws to prevent distortion of pressure plate. If pressure plate is to be reused, mark pressure
plate and flywheel to assure correct assembly.
