Remove existing EGR mounting studs and replace with two new studs. New studs will allow installation of EGR valve without cooler assembly.
See Figure 22.
8.
Install new gasket, new EGR valve and attaching nuts. Torque nuts to 12-18 ft. lbs.; reconnect EGR vacuum hoses.
9.
Remove EGR water inlet connector in intake manifold and install pipe plug with sealant. Torque plug to 12-21 ft. lbs.
10.
Install cap on 3-way tee where EGR cooler outlet hose was connected. Secure cap with new clamp.
11.
Start engine and check for coolant, exhaust and vacuum leaks.
12.
Test drive vehicle to ensure detonation does not exist. If unacceptable detonation occurs, retard ignition timing in 2~ increments to a maximum of
6~ retard from specification. Refer to Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal for ignition timing specification and Car Shop Manual for
