Front Door Exterior Handle: Service and Repair
HANDLE, OUTSIDE DOOR
REMOVAL
1. Remove front door trim panel (23942) and water shield from door.
2. Disconnect the front door latch actuating rod (22152) from the door handle (22404).
3. Protect the area surrounding the outside door handle opening with protective cover to prevent paint damage.
4. Using a 12.7 x 101.6 mm (112-inch x 4-inch) piece of wood dowel stock, or similar material, prop the door handle open to gain access to the two
blind rivets retaining the door handle.
5. Using a drift punch or similar tool, knock out the center pin or mandrel of each rivet. Then use a 1/4- inch drill and drill out the remainder of the
rivet from the door sheet metal. Use care in drilling so that sheet metal holes are not enlarged.
6. Remove prop and door handle from front door (20124).
INSTALLATION
1. NOTE: Do not substitute rivets. Use N805945-S102 rivets only.
