Odometer: Description and Operation
Odometer is integral with the speedometer. It receives distance signal from transmission mounted Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).
Odometer Replacement
The mileage on replacement speedometer/odometers cannot be reset by a technician. A speedometer preset to the correct mileage, is available through
designated Ford service centers.
Trip Odometer
The trip odometer:

Is located in the speedometer above the primary odometer.

Consists of four digits that range from 0000 to 9999 before rolling over back to 0000.

Can be reset to 0000 by pressing the odometer reset shaft.

Is mounted in the instrument cluster.

Receives its input from Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
