Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Perform Pre-Service and Fuel Pressure Release Procedures if removing fuel pressure regulator while fuel injection supply manifold is installed on
engine. See: Service and Repair
2. Remove air cleaner outlet tube from throttle body.
3. Remove vacuum line at fuel pressure regulator.
4. Remove two Allen-head retaining screws from fuel pressure regulator housing and discard.
5. Remove fuel pressure regulator, return seal and O-rings. Discard fuel pressure regulator return seal and O-rings.
6. If scraping is necessary, do not damage fuel pressure regulator or fuel injection supply manifold sealing surfaces.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate new fuel pressure regulator O-rings with clean engine oil XO-1OW30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-F.
CAUTION: Never use silicone grease. It will clog the fuel injectors.
2. Make sure sealing surfaces of fuel pressure regulator and fuel injection supply manifold are clean.
3. Install new fuel pressure regulator O-rings and new return seal in the return recess of the fuel injection supply manifold.
4. Using new Allen-head retaining screws, install fuel pressure regulator on fuel injection supply manifold. Tighten retaining screws to 3.0-4.5 Nm
(27-39 lb in).
5. Install vacuum line to fuel pressure regulator.
6. Install air cleaner outlet tube. Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamp to 2.5-3.2 Nm (22-28 lb in).
