Cougar/XR7 V8-4.6L VIN W (1997)
10. Lightly lubricate stub shaft splines with Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or -K or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B.
11. Remove differential plug from rear axle housing (RH side).
NOTE: Do not damage the inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing seal. The inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing seal must
be replaced whenever halfshaft is removed.
12. With CV joint splines engaged with axle shaft, push rear wheel knuckle inward to seat inboard CV joint driveshaft bearing retainer circlip in axle
shaft. Use care to prevent damage to inboard CV joint stub shaft pilot bearing housing seal.
NOTE: A non-metallic mallet may be used to aid in seating driveshaft bearing retainer circlip into axle shaft groove. If a mallet is necessary, tap
only on outboard CV joint stub shaft.
13. Install rear suspension arm and bushing bolts and nuts.
14. Align paint marks on rear suspension arm and bushing and knuckle bushing. Tighten bolts to 160-200 Nm (118-147 ft. lbs.).
15. Install rear suspension arm and bushing retaining bolt and nut. Tighten to 160-200 Nm (118-147 ft. lbs.).
