Cougar/XR7 V8-4.6L VIN W (1997)
8. Remove tripod assembly from shaft.
9. Remove rear axle shaft joint assembly retaining ring from shaft.
10. Remove rear axle shaft inner boot.
Boot Clamp Removal
11. Cut the boot clamps using side cutters and peel away from the rear axle shaft outer boot in the direction of arrow as shown.
NOTE: The outboard CV joint is permanently retained to the interconnecting shaft and cannot be disassembled. If rear axle shaft outer boot
replacement is necessary, check CV joint condition and, if reusable, clean and repack with Constant Velocity Joint Grease (High-Temp)
E43Z-19590-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESP-M1C207-A.
